Emergency Medicine as a specialty focuses on diagnosis and treatment of acute illnesses and injuries that require immediate medical attention, with the aim of improving long-term patient outcome.
Our residency training program encompasses virtually all fields of medicine to include surgery, pediatrics, OB-GYN and internal medicine. A broad field of knowledge and advanced procedural skills are encountered while you train to be an Emergency Medicine Physician. Skills like surgical procedures, trauma resuscitation, advanced cardiac life support and advanced airway management, among others are routinely encountered.
Emergency Medicine is the ideal specialty for physicians that enjoy the challenge of diverse medical problems, while also practicing specialized skills, such as management of difficult airways, suturing of complex lacerations, and management of pregnant patients, reducing fractured bones or dislocated joints and treating diverse medical conditions such as heart attacks, sepsis, diabetic ketoacidosis or congestive heart failure.
