MS-IV RotationMMED 7057-13 Emergency Medicine – 80-240 hours; (formal didactics 10/20) two or four consecutive full time weeks. Prerequisite: Student will be required to have completed third year Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Surgery and OB-Gyn clerkships.
The student will participate as an active member of the Resident-Faculty Team on the initial evaluation and treatment of patients in the Emergency Department at the Hospital de la Universidad Dr. Federico Trilla, Carolina. He/She will work under direct supervision at all times. Attendance to departmental didactic activities on Wednesday mornings is mandatory. One week before starting the rotation the medical student must visit the EM Department Office to get clerkship schedule.

Clinical Shifts: Academic Activity on Wednesday 8:00 A.M. at “Hospital de la Universidad de Puerto Rico”, First Floor in Conference Room. Clinical Shifts : Students will be assigned to a resident-faculty team for four (4) consecutive 12 hr. day shifts and 3 consecutive 12 hr. night shifts with 2 free days in between, some of them will include weekend and holidays. Evaluation : Based on daily clinical performance and a power point presentation. Participation in academic activities is also expected. Continuous feedback will be encouraged. Signed attendance list and anonymous EM rotation evaluation by the student is required at the end of the clerkship.
