Center for Sports Health & Exercise Sciences
The Center for Sports Health & Exercise Sciences (SADCE in spanish) is a joint project of the University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus and the Puerto Rico Olympic Committee. The Center was established on february 28, 1988 in the Puerto Rican Olympic Training Center ("Albergue Olímpico") in Salinas, and is an integral part of the Department of Physical Medicine, Rehabilitation & Sports Health of the UPR School of Medicine. The Center is organized into three activity areas- clinical service, education and research - and in seven Service Units, including five clinics, as seen below:
- Primary Services Unit -Family Medicine Interventions Athletic Lesions Unit - Diagnostic, Treatment & Rehabilitation Exercise Physiology Unit - Specific Training by Sport Biopsychosocial Unit - Mental Training Oral Health - Orofacial Health condition Biostatistic and Information Systems - Environmental Variables
- Administrative Unit - Management and Administrative support
Sports Health services are administered with a preventive approach by a multidisciplinary team of health professionals. The Center has over ten years of experience providing local, national and international sports health services, including the Puerto Rico Centralamerican and Caribbean Games Delegations, Pan-american Games, Olympic Games and World Championships.
