Introduction

The Department of Microbiology and Medical Zoology of the Medical Science Campus (RCM) of the University of Puerto Rico (UPR) is the only one in Puerto Rico that offer academic preparation to obtain the degree of Masters in Sciences in Microbiology and Doctorate in Philosophy in Microbiology.

The Department staff is constituted by sixteen (16) professors and graduate students who count with the support of the technical and administrative personnel. The main mission is to lead the students to the professional life through accomplishment of investigation projects, thesis, dissertation and publication.

The Department, as part of the Medicine School of the Medical Sciences Campus, counts on the appropriate facilities for intense development for research. Graduate courses offers basic and advance topics in the discipline of Bacteriology, Molecular Biology, lmmunology, Mycology, Microbiology, Parasitology, and Virology.
