Pediatric Neurosurgery
Dr. Juan A. Vigo Prieto is a summa cum laude medical school graduate. He completed his neurosurgery training at the University of Puerto Rico, and a post-doctoral fellowship in Pediatric Neurosurgery at Texas Children’s Hospital, Baylor School of Medicine in Houston, Texas. In 1991 he began the Pediatric Neurosurgery Service at the University Pediatric Hospital, covering Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Neurosurgery, and as visiting professor, has been invited to numerous conferences and meetings. Dr. Vigo has vast experience in pediatric cases, having served as director of the section since its inception fifteen years ago. His caseload includes endoscopic minimally invasive surgeries, brain and spinal cord tumors. Myelodysplasia, hydrocephalus, tumors, and craniosynostosis, among others.
