Residency Program

Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Puerto Rico, School of Medicine is a well-balanced program.  The department is approved a four-year residency program with a maximum of 5 residents per year during the next years.  Our department participates in ERAS and in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).  Residents are selected on the basis of their application, medical school transcripts, at least two letters of recommendation, rotations, and personal interviews.

The program is intended to provide comprehensive education in obstetrics and gynecology, and to ensure that the candidate upon completion will be skilled in primary care of women, gynecologic surgery, normal and high risk obstetrics, urogynecology, reproductive endocrinology, and gynecologic oncology.

The residency program provides comprehensive benefits, including a competitive salary, and medical insurance coverage.  Also 4 weeks are granted during each year of training for vacation.  Maternal and paternal leave are also granted. 

Accreditation

Our program has full accreditation.  The last site visit was July 26, 2011.  The next site visit review will be expected in 2013.
