Overview

The Cardiology Section is based at the University Pediatric Hospital and at the Cardiovascular Hospital in Puerto Rico Medical Center.   The Section provides both outpatient and inpatient consultation and management services for neonates, infants, children and adolescents with cardiovascular disorders.  It is one of the largest cardiology services in the Island.

In patient Services

The section faculty is committed to provide consultation services to the Pediatric University Hospital 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week.  Transfers are accepted from the complete island of Puerto Rico, as well as the Virgin Islands.  Service is trained to perform invasive procedures, such as those mentioned below.

Outpatient Services

The outpatient Service is offered mainly in the Cardiovascular Center Hospital in the Medical Center in San Juan, PR and at the UPR Hospital at Carolina, PR.  Among the services we offer are:

• Interventional (Therapeutic) Catheterization Procedures
  

• Arrhythmia diagnosis and treatment
  

• Electrocardiograms (ECG’s)
  

• 24 Hour Holter Monitoring

• Stress testing
  

• Pacemaker Implantation and Monitoring
  

• Cardio Exercise Testing
  

• Comprehensive ultrasound evaluation
  

• Transthoracic Echocardiography
