Research

The section is committed to participate in research in endocrinology and diabetes with special interest in those related to Hispanics and Puerto  Ricans.

Dr. Nieves-Rivera is Professor of Pediatrics at the Department of Pediatrics of the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine.  He is currently principal investigator for the phase 3, multi-center, open-label study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of leuprolide acetate 11.25 mg and 30 mg formulation in children with central precocious puberty.  Project goals are to assess safety and efficacy of a higher leuprolide acetate injection  given every three months to children with central precocious puberty.  Dr. González-Pijem is a co-investigator of this study.
