| School of Medicine Inaugurates Student Lounge
The new Student Lounge was inaugurated on March 23rd by Dr. Walter Frontera - Dean of Medicine, Dr. José R. Carlo - RCM Chancellor, Juan C. Almodóvar, President of the Medical Student Council, and representatives of students, faculty and alumni.
This new space is located on the third floor of the Medical Sciences Campus Building, adjacent to the medicine amphitheaters. With a colorful and modern decor, convenient lighting and new lockers, it is a great place to study and meet with classmates, enjoy a snack or lounge around between classes. The room features comfortable couches to relax on, as well as tables and chairs to sit around and study, chat or have lunch. A cozy kitchen and a spacious meeting room is part of this new facility that promises to become a favorite gathering spot for students.
The opening of this lounge was made possible by the efforts of many groups working together. Contributions from alumni and private corporations such as Triple S were crucial in this project. The School wishes to specifically thank the Sociedad de Médicos Graduados UPR and a group of Alumni donors, some of them contributed every year since our first campaign in 2005.
Enjoy!

SCHOOL OF MEDICINE RECEIVES $150,000 DONATION FROM TRIPLE S
Triple S, Inc. has donated $150,000 to the School of Medicine to support medical education projects. The donation will be invested in better training facilities for our students and the development of a new state-of-the-art Medical Education Center (CEMED). These remodeled spaces will be the cornerstone of the School’s efforts to maintain its leadership in medical education and specialty training in Puerto Rico.
The CEMED will incorporate advanced technology, simulators, and other equipment to create clinical scenarios utilizing computer-controlled mannequins. The human standardized patient laboratory will provide an opportunity for trainees to diagnose and manage diseases in a highly realistic environment. The Center will also feature: two multipurpose conference/teaching rooms with 50 people capacity each, ten small group discussion rooms and a virtual library.
The support and contribution of companies like Triple S is significant because it greatly accelerates the pathway to reach our goal and allow us to continue educating competent and compassionate medical professionals to provide quality health care.
