Welcome to the home page of the Department of Surgery at the Medical Sciences Campus of the University of Puerto Rico. Our Department has 50 years of history, dedicated to train competent, safe and compassionate surgeons for Puerto Rico and abroad. Our program is fully accredited by ACGME. This site provides information for patients, referring physicians, prospective residents and fellows, and medical students.

Our commitment is to provide the best care to our patients in Puerto Rico while at the same time train new physicians in surgery. To provide excellent treatment in a caring and humanistic way: the art of surgery.  We are also committed to produce new investigators in the surgical field and to develop leaders that will improve the quality of life in Puerto Rico. To meet these goals, we have gathered an excellent faculty working at different hospitals to cover all aspects of modern surgical treatment. The faculty and staff of the Department of Surgery look forward to assisting you in any way possible.
